Poster Designs
We wanted to start rendering out some images for posters so we could being to promote the film. I find it a lot quicker to just sketch something down than to do any kid of photoshop mock up so I started drawing a few that I thought would work well.
These are really for teaser posters, so they don't give much away. But I thought by showing details and hinting at content, with the only information being the release date, it could create a nice buzz about the film. The drawing above would be of the zombie eyes, quite darkly lit, but with the release date in white over the top.
The ones below are ideas for the proper film posters, mostly playing on the conflict between the two characters.
Characters Sheets
We needed some character sheets of each character to go on the website (built by Joe and Greg) as concept art, which I was more than happy to do. I know that in the grand scheme of things I'm not the best draftsman around but I'm fairly happy with the way these turned out. I think they do the job, and I tried my best to some up the character and try to coney some of the emotions the they are likely to experience within the events of the film.
The above drawings are for the intern, I tried to fit in a mix of confusion/tiredness and pure terror and I figured those were the main things he was going to be feeling throughout the film!
This one of the zombie was a bit hit and miss. I like the face in the top left and a couple of the mouth sketches are kind of cool, but that zombie in the bottom left is no good. But it's all on the same page so I couldn't change anything! Serves me right for going straight in with a Biro I suppose! I do like this hand (below) though. I think because typically zombies have their arms out flailing in front of them and a lot of their body language leads towards their hands, because that's the outlet for the only though proccess they have which is most likely to be "I like brains".
The bottom concept was a more confined version of one of the shots in which the zombie enters the lift for the first time and there's a really long, awkward pause as the intern tries not to attract any attention to himself as if he doesn't find anything weird, but the zombie is just sizing up some brains/flesh/general body parts.
